![]() Since, I got a few RTRs that were great out of the box and worked beyond my expectation. My earliest R/Cs were kits that I enjoyed building. At least the BaseCamp comes wtih a separate radio and ESC. I had to disassemble a good pit of it to pull the 2spd spacer. That is where I came in, and lived to regret it, esp the way that the RTR was delivered. I think the one that made the most sense for no kit (posted above) to me is that more folks want RTR. This would seem right for folks that have the SCX10 II and want an SCX10 III. Folks would be able to reuse components to finish the kit that costs less than an RTR. I agree with your general analysis of economic issues, but see that as a justification for a kit. I hope I'm wrong, and that things improve, but it looks pretty grim for the near future. As household incomes get more stretched, recreational spending gets reduced, so don't be surprised if you see less and less variety from the big RC companies, as they struggle to stay afloat. > Listen to the first sentence spoken by "TJ" of Horizon Hobby: "Whether you're looking to start your RC crawling adventure or you're looking for a blank slate for your next custom build.this one's for you." With the downward spiraling direction our economy has gone in, Horizon is going to go with the most profitable package, in order to stay in business. I doubt they'll release a raw builder's kit from this truck. The Gatekeeper Kit is still the best deal out there right now IMO! Though if I had to choose my favorite chassis at the moment, it would still be the Element RC Enduro. I like the new 10.3 chassis and changes that were made to it and will more than likely buy this when it comes out in a kit. ![]() I have a TRX-4 and love how indestructible it is, but the platform itself is older and needs a refresh. I would like to see this in kit form without the electronics and clear body.Īnd I think I do prefer this version of the 10.3 over the TRX-4. I can see a lot of aftermarket targeting that area. I prefer the AR45 axles and I think the simple transmission on skid setup is going to open up a lot of room for customization and configuration. I might wait a bit to see if a builder's kit comes out since the 10.2 RBK is now discontinued, I'd have to hope that a 10.3 RBK will take its place. I will probably be picking this up, but not right away. ![]() Just an observation from a certain perspective. Love or hate Traxxas, they are just that. It’s never a bad idea to mimick what is successful. ![]() It seemed to me the first 10.3 was a pretty clear response to the TRX4 Defender as well. The parallel’s between the two platforms is glaring. I can only imagine this will outsell the Phoenix overall, simply because everyone is the market audience.Īs has been said endlessly, haters gonna hateġ00%. As a kit this will have the potential to reach an even wider market while remaining competitive with Element and Traxxas(both of whom appear to sell lots of solid entry level kits).įor an experienced builder who has not enjoyed a Phoenix, 100 bucks is nothing. Of course an experienced builder can take any platform to any level of choosing. People have been asking for a more basic version for a while and now that it’s here, it’s still not good enoughĪgreed, there is no doubt the market they are targeting is entry level. Kind of a shame how many negative comments axial is getting on this (at least on YouTube). And while there are “upgrades”/option parts, the vehicle doesn’t necessarily need them. I agree as well, but I think axial had a different customer in mind compared to vp when they designed any of their rigs.Ī Vs410 I look at as geared towards someone who wants a complete truck kit, that they can outfit with their own electronics. ![]()
